I. Introduction to E-cigarette Flavoring Technology


E-liquid is a mixture of PG, VG, nicotine salt, sweeteners, cooling agents, acid agents, flavorings, and other additives. When heated by the atomizer, it produces aerosol with a combination of sweet, cool, sour, and fragrant flavors along with a nicotine experience, which is inhaled by consumers for pleasure.


Flavorings are responsible for generating aromas and are formulated by flavoring engineers, such as various fruit and tobacco flavors, perceived by the olfactory sense in the nasal cavity. They represent the type of flavor profile of the e-liquid, commonly known as the taste, with a wide variety, being the most distinctive feature of e-liquid differentiation.


Nicotine salt, sweeteners, cooling agents, and acid agents fall under the category of flavoring in e-liquid and are formulated by flavoring engineers. They are perceived by the oral cavity and throat, and in some cases, by the nasal cavity.


Common sweeteners include neotame and sucralose, cooling agents include menthol series, WS-5, WS-23, etc., and acid agents include citric acid, malic acid, benzoic acid, acetic acid, etc. These truly represent the taste of the e-liquid.


However, in the actual e-cigarette e-liquid formulation process, flavoring and flavoring are collectively referred to as flavoring and are both handled by flavoring engineers. This is not entirely accurate. E-cigarette flavoring should be carried out by professional flavoring engineers, who are mainly responsible for the selection of concentration, type, and combination of various flavoring agents, as well as the identification of the response sites of the taste, to form modular flavoring formulas to meet the rapid market demand and delivery.


II. Fog and Aroma Separation Technology


Due to the fact that aroma and taste are two distinct sensations and two different tasks, a more reasonable and scientific thinking mode is adopted, that is, separating flavorings and taste substances for storage and atomization. Under this new concept, the e-cigarette industry will open up a new technical route - fog and aroma separation technology.
